About Us
Founded in 1919 by visionary artist A. Na. Subbarao, Kalamandira is Karnataka’s first fine arts institution — born during India’s freedom movement with the spirit of Swadeshi at its heart. For over a century, Kalamandira has nurtured generations of artists, thinkers, and cultural leaders through its commitment to excellence in art education, theatre, and creative expression.
From organizing India’s earliest national art exhibitions to hosting cultural icons like Mahatma Gandhi and Girish Karnad, Kalamandira continues to stand as a beacon of heritage, creativity, and progressive thought.
Bachelor of Visual Arts
Four-Year Degree Program in Drawing & Painting
